Snowdonia & the Lleyn Peninsula

Welcome to this magical and mysterious corner of the UK!

Garreg Gron is situated inside the western edge of Snowdonia, 180 metres above sea level and above the thriving village of Garndolbenmaen. In front of the cottage lies the sublimely beautiful 30 miles long Lleyn peninsula, with its craggy granite mountains and sweeping coastlines disappearing to the horizon. The beaches at Criccieth and Black Rock Sands (dog-friendly) are 5 miles away; Porthmadog is 6 miles to the south and Portmeirion is 10 miles away in the same direction. Caernarfon is 15 miles to the north and Bangor is 22 miles in the same direction. Anglesey is 20 miles away (via the Britannia Bridge) and Holyhead Ferry Terminal for Dublin is 50 miles away (about an hour).

This unspoilt area of North West Wales has something for everyone – wild and rugged terrain for mountain biking, walking and photography; long and empty sandy beaches for picnicking, rock pooling and strolling; craggy peaks and pine-clad slopes for exploring, contemplating and relaxing; and castles and ruins for investigating, studying and reflecting. Come rain or shine, and at any time of the year, there’s a wealth of things to do and places to visit during your stay.
